These Shining Lives chronicles the true story of four women in the 1920s who worked for the Radium Dial Company in Ottawa, Illinois, painting watch dials with radium paint. The play chronicles their journey from empowerment to betrayal, showcasing the dangers these women faced in their workplace and highlighting the wider lack of concern companies had for protecting the health of their employees. As the women fall ill from radium poisoning, they refuse to be cast aside, fighting corporate greed and negligence, ultimately fighting for justice and changing worker safety laws forever.
